How Far Can Your Dreams Take You?

How Far Can Your Dreams Take You?
... as far as the power of your imagination and motivation - Denis Waitley answered.
Imagination and motivation are powerful things, and with them on your side, you have all the reason in the world to achieve your grandest dreams.
Need proof?
Take the story of how the first bridge over the Niagara River near Niagara Falls was built in 1847….
You see, to build a bridge over the giant gorge, the builders first had to get a line over the canyon, from one side to the other—from the United States to Canada with roaring rapids underneath. Except the engineers couldn’t cross the river in a boat because it would go over the falls, the airplane hadn’t been invented yet, and the distance was way beyond bow-and-arrow range.
The designing engineer, Charles Ellet, pondered the dilemma until he came up with a revolutionary idea: to sponsor a kite flying contest. A $5 prize (a small lottery back then!) would go to the person who could fly a kite across the gorge and let it go low enough to the ground for someone on the other side to grab the string. It was successful—a young American boy won the contest on his second attempt.

The kite string, fastened to a tree, was used to pull a cord across, then a line, then a rope. Next came an iron-wire cable and then steel cables, until a structure strong enough to build a suspension bridge was in place. The bridge opened on August 1, 1848. And it all began with an idea and one thin kite string.
That string is like a single thought. The more vivid and clear the thought, and the more you come back to it, the stronger it becomes—like the string to the rope to the cable. Each time you rethink it, dwell on it or layer it with other thoughts, you are strengthening the structure on which to build your idea, like building a bridge over Niagara Falls.
But unlike a kite, there is no string attached to how high and how far your goals may take you. They are limited only by the power of your imagination and the strength of your desire.

A lot of us never see our dreams come true. Instead of soaring through the clouds, our dreams languish like a broken-down airplane confined to its hangar.
"The lord said to Abraham, ..... look from where thou art as far as you can see, to thee will I give it and thy seed for ever". - Gen 13:14-15. The problem with many of us is that we cannot see any thing. But a wise man once said 'If you can envision it you could have it'

Through life, I have come to identify five common reasons why dreams don’t take flight:
1. We have been discouraged from dreaming by others.
We have to pilot our own dreams; we cannot entrust them to anyone else. People who aren’t following their own dreams resent us pursuing ours. Such people feel inadequate when we succeed, so they try to drag us down.
If we listen to external voices, then we allow our dreams to be hijacked. At some point, other people will place limitations on us by doubting our abilities. When surrounded by the turbulence of criticism, we have to grasp the controls tightly to keep from being knocked off course.
2. We fall into the habit of settling for average.
Average is the norm for a reason. Being exceptional demands extra effort, sustained inspiration and uncommon discipline. When we attempt to give flight to our dreams, we have to overcome the weight of opposition. Like gravity, life’s circumstances constantly pull on our dreams, tugging us down to mediocrity.
Most of us don’t pay the price to overcome the opposition to our dreams. We may start out inspired, but through time we fatigue. Although never intending to abandon our dreams, we begin to make concessions here and there. Through time, our lives become mundane, and our dreams slip away.
3. We are hindered by past disappointments and hurts.
In the movie Top Gun, Tom Cruise plays Maverick, a young, talented and cocky aviator who dreams of being the premier pilot in the U.S. Navy. In the film’s opening scenes, Maverick showcases his flying ability but also displays a knack for pushing the envelope with regards to safety. Midway through the movie, Maverick’s characteristic aggression spells disaster. His plane crashes, killing his best friend and co-pilot.
Although cleared of wrongdoing, the painful memory of the accident haunts Maverick. He quits taking risks and loses his edge. Struggling to regain his poise, he considers giving up on his dream. The incident nearly wrecks Maverick’s career, but he eventually reaches within to find the strength to return to the sky.
Like Maverick, many of us live with the memory of failure embedded in our psyche. Perhaps a business we started went broke, or we were fired from a position of leadership. Disappointment is the gap that exists between expectation and reality, and all of us have encountered that gap. Failure is a necessary and natural part of life, but if we’re going to attain our dreams, then, like Maverick, we have to summon the courage to deal with past hurts.
4. We lack the confidence needed to pursue our dreams.
Dreams are fragile. They will be buffeted by assaults from all sides. As such, they must be supplied with the extra strength of self-confidence.
In Amelia Earhart’s day, women were not supposed to fly airplanes. If she had lacked self-assurance, she never would have even attempted to be a pilot. Instead, Earhart confidently chased after her dream, and she was rewarded with both fulfillment and fame.
5. We are missing the imagination to dream.
For thousands of years, mankind traveled along the ground: by foot, by horse-and-buggy, by locomotive and eventually by automobile. Thanks to the dreams of Orville and Wilbur Wright, we now hop across oceans in a matter of hours. The imaginative brothers overcame ridicule and doubt to pioneer human flight, and the world has never been the same.
Many of us play small because we do not allow ourselves to dream. We trap ourselves in reality and never dare to go beyond what we can see with our eyes. Imagination lifts us beyond average by giving us a vision of life that surpasses what we are experiencing currently. Dreams infuse our spirit with energy and spur us on to greatness.
Never stop dreaming!

Nothing Is Ever As Bad As It First Appears.
Just yesterday I was with little or zero naira when I left for the house of God but at a returned I was blessed by a care minded.

Listen to this: No situation is final and no condition is permanent. Jesus was on The Cross 3 days before The Resurrection. What you think is a loss is an investment. Nothing Is Ever As Bad As It First Appears. Bad times activate worthy relationships. Jonathan met David in a crisis time. Ruth met Boaz in a crisis season. Esther was recognised in a crisis moment. Bad Times Bring Good People Together.
Quitting Does Not Improve Your Life. Quitting has no reward. What do you get? Regret…shame…guilt…multiplied fear…loss of Faith.

7 Personality Traits of a Great Leader Not Taught in Schools.

If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manager, as a parent. Jim Rohn calls leadership the great challenge of life.
What’s important in leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective. Here’s how:
1. Learn to be strong but not impolite. It is an extra step you must take to become a powerful, capable leader with a wide range of reach. Some people mistake rudeness for strength. It's not even a good substitute.
2. Learn to be kind but not weak we must not mistake weakness for kindness. Kindness isn't weak. Kindness is a certain type of strength. We must be kind enough to tell someone the truth. We must be kind enough and considerate enough to lay it on the line. We must be kind enough to tell it like it is and not deal in delusion.
3. Learn to be bold but not a bully. It takes boldness to win the day. To build your influence, you've got to walk in front of your group. You've got to be willing to take the first arrow, tackle the first problem, discover the first sign of trouble. Like the farmer, if you want any rewards at harvest time, you have got to be bold and face the weeds and the rain and the bugs straight on. You've got to seize the moment.
4. Learn to be humble but not timid. You can't get to the high life by being timid. Some people mistake timidity for humility. But humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease. It's an affliction. It can be cured, but it is a problem. Humility is almost a God-like word—a sense of awe, a sense of wonder, an awareness of the human soul and spirit, an understanding that there is something unique about the human drama versus the rest of life. Humility is a grasp of the distance between us and the stars, yet having the feeling that we're part of the stars.
5. Learn to be proud but not arrogant. It takes pride to build your ambitions. It takes pride in your community. It takes pride in a cause, in accomplishment. But the key to becoming a good leader is to be proud without being arrogant. Do you know the worst kind of arrogance? Arrogance from ignorance. It's intolerable. If someone is smart and arrogant, we can tolerate that. But if someone is ignorant and arrogant, that's just too much to take.
6. Learn to develop humor without folly. In leadership, we learn that it's OK to be witty but not silly; fun but not foolish.
7. Learn to deal in realities. Deal in truth. Save yourself the agony of delusion. Just accept life as it is—the whole drama of life. It's fascinating.
Life is unique. Leadership is unique. The skills that work well for one leader may not work at all for another. However, the fundamental skills of leadership can be adopted to work well for just about everyone: at work, in the community and at home.
To Your Success!

Laziness!

Laziness is the secret ingredient that goes into failure (poverty), but it's only kept a secret from the person who fails.

This reminds me of the story of a particular man, who missed out on his blessing by failing to turn up when God wanted to favour him. The fellows's relation pleaded with God saying, "Oh God my relative on earth is so poor and he needs your help".
God replied, "I'm really interested in blessing him but he is so LAZY that he won't be interested in receiving the help". Out of concern, the relative said: "Oh God, please give him a chance". "Okay", said God, "just watch".
God dispatched someone with a bag full of gold saying, "Take this to that man, I just want to favour him with this bag. He will be rich for life". Within a very short time, the bag of gold was placed at the entrance of the lazy Marga. The heavenly messenger knocked at the man's door saying; "We have a special message for you from the Almighty God". The man simply managed a drawling; Gentlemen, don't disturb me, I'm tired and I need to take a good rest. I just can't get out of the bed, don't disturb my rest. "The message we have brought for you, is very important. Is an emergency, just open your door and take the message", persisted the messenger.
The man refused to be persuaded and insisted, " you are simply constituting nuisance to the neighbourhood, stop disturbing me, just go away". The heavenly messenger had no option than to take the bag of gold back to heaven.

He's so lazy that if there were work in bed, he would rather sleep on the floor.

My prayer for you, is that you won't ever miss out on your opportunities, when they come knocking at the door. But before you say Amen; Go to the ant, ..... Consider her ways, and be wise. Proverb 6:6-11. In other words, "The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for when it time to be born, he refused to come out". - Hosea 13:13.

Being a couch potato is dangerous, someone may get hungry and eat you!

How Mad Can You Be?

Colonel Sanders who retired from the railroad was broke and alone at 65years he got his first social security check for $105 and he got mad. But instead of blaming society or just writing congress a nasty note, he started asking himself, “what could I do that would value for other people? His first answer was, “well I have this chicken recipe from my mother that everyone seems to love!”
So with a beat-up car he went and started knocking on doors, telling each restaurant owner his story; “I’ve got great chicken recipe, and I think if you use it, it will increase your sales. And I like to get a percentage of that increase.”
Well, many people laughed. They said, “look, old man, get out of here. What are you wearing that stupid white suit for?” instead of feeling bad about the last restaurant that had rejected his idea, he immediately started focusing on how to tell his story more effectively and get better results from the next restaurant. He spent two years driving across American in his old, beat-up car, sleeping in the back seat in his rumpled white suit because he couldn’t afford a motel room, getting up each day eager to share his idea with someone new. Often, the only food he has was a quick bite of the sample he was preparing for prospective buyers.
All in all, Colonel Sanders was rejected 1,009 times before he heard his first yes. Today, there are thousand of Kentucky Friend Chicken Franchises in hundreds of countries all over the world. How many of us quit after tries, ten tries, a hundred tries, and we say we tries as hard as we could?
Like a great motivator Uju Onyechere would ask; “How many people would have come up with the excuse of being too old?” At 65, don’t you think it’s a genuine excuse to say “oh I guess am too old to start running around, to start something new, I better settle down and enjoy my pension or better still wait for my children to take care of me”. Not that there is anything wrong in enjoying the fruits of your hard labour, either as pension or your children taking care of you. But if you enjoy what you do, retirement will be the last thing that will come to your mind. People who consider their jobs as having fun and are so passionate about what they do, will always want to go on and on.
How many doors did he have to knock on before he got his first order? One thousand and nine times before he heard his first yes. Yes! 1,009 times before the first order.
It’s never too early or too late to make a mark your lifetime. Live today as if it’s the last day of your life, that way you will give the world your best.
As we part ways for now, remember the words of Irish Critic George Bernard Shaw “It is those individuals who know what they want in life and who are willing to go after it, regardless of the circumstance around them, who go on to make a difference in the world”.
When it comes to Human capital development, you can bank on Skyhigh Motivational.

No Body Want To Accept Responsibilities

Once upon a time there were four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody.
When there was an important job to be done, Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did.
When Nobody did it,
Everybody got angry because it was Somebody's job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Somebody realized that Nobody would do it.
So it ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody that Nobody did what Anybody could have done in the first place.

You see, we live in an age where nobody is willing to accept responsibilities. Every Mara in town is defencive to everything and shifting blame and give alibis.
Children blame their parents, parents blame teachers, teachers blame the government, government inturn blame judiciary, judiciary blame police, police cannot but return the cartridge to the government.

If we each take responsibility in shifting our own behaviour, we can trigger the type of change that is necessary to achieve sustainability for our race or this planet. We change our planet, our environment, our humanity every day, every year, every decade, and every millennia.

Jesus gladly bear the responsibility of the cross to save mankind. Remember!

Nothing Is Impossible

Welcome to this edition, as I drills you on another interesting topic.
I make bold to say that 'nothing is impossible' under the sun. How do I come to this conclusion? The Bible says “…they are one people with the same language for all of them, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing that they have a mind to do will be IMPOSSIBLE for them!” –Genesis chapter eleven verse 6. Another translation says ‘nothing they plan to do will be beyond them’; yet, God Word Translation puts it ‘Nothing they plan to do will be too difficult for them, King James 2000 Bible sum it up; ‘Nothing will be retrained from them, which they have imagined to do. That means nothing will be witholden from you, which you have purpose to do. But there is a problem today, what is it? They are many children of God who are going about imagining nothing, planning nothing and purpose nothing, such people had either believe in impossible, resign to fate or at worse, nothing inspired them. Whatever it is with you I say nothing is impossible?
An International Speaker Author and Motivational Speaker, once sat across the dest of Philip Johnson, a renounced Architect. The motivator had a dream he wanted to share with Mr. Johnson. He wanted him to design a church building that would be all-glass structure.
“That is impossible”. Mr. Johnson said without hesitation. There and then, the motivator handed him a small dictionary, and told him to look up the world ‘impossible’. Philip Johnson was startle, and to his shock, he saw that someone had cut out the word impossible from the dictionary with a razor.
“That is right,” said the motivator. “The world impossible does not exist in my vocabulary”. It was a gag, but Mr. Johnson got the message, and went ahead to design what is now one of the world’s most beautiful cathedrals – The Crystal Cathederal in Garden Grove, Orange County California, USA, which was dedicated in Septemer, 1980.
We must have to believe. We must have to discover, understand and utilize the potential within us. It was Maric Curie who once observed that “Life is not easy for any of us, but what of that? We must have perseverance and above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that thing, at whatever cost, must be attained”.
Francois de La Rocheucauld lift my mood “Nothing is impossible; there are ways that lead to everything, and if we had sufficient will we should always have sufficient means. It is often merely for an excuse that we say things are impossible”.
Musa, a Lebanese understand that nothing is impossible to a willing heart. He encountered one of the usual problems in their region which devastated everything in their environment. And so towards Jordan he went with others.
On getting to a point in the desert, he decided that he was going to find water if he digs for it. When he announced this, he was greeted with Jeers and laughter. He was told one million reasons by experts why it will not be possible to find water and even if they do, that it will be salt water. To the people, he was a fool in fact a mad man.
But Musa believed in his dream. So the next day they began to dig for water, not with any sophisticated equipment but with their hands and anything they could find around in the desert. Day after day, under the sun they kept on digging. And for six months nothing happened.
‘I must say darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future look blank. The temptation to quit is huge. But he didn’t quite, he argued with himself that there is a way forward. He might understand that God has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than he can conceived’.
Then one day the sand became dump and with a little more digging they saw water. Not just water but fresh water. They did not jubilate but where is tears. Their persistence has paid off. One of them had this to say, “Now I can die, I’ve seen water come from the desert”.
Nothing is impossible in this world. Firm determination, it is said, can move heaven and earth. Things appear far beyond one’s power, because one cannot set his heart on any arduous project due to want of strong will. If determination is your anchor, they will be a constant supply of energy to accomplish your goal. I want to predict something historic “I’m going to become a President of Nigeria by the year 2039”. (Nothing is impossible).
According to Orison Swett Marden, “Confidence is the father of achievement. It reinforces ability, doubles energy, buttresses mental faculties, increases power” The key is in your hands.
God is a God of purpose; he does noting without a purpose. The purpose and plan of God for you is to excel and prospers. God has placed possibility at the finger tips of everyone. Infact God has made everything available to enable you to exceed boundaries it is now your responsibility to walk into it and tap that possibility.
Dear, I want to assure you that God the owner of our vision has promise to make a provision because he has given us the auction which is the solution to every situation. Once again, Nothing is impossible!
Be careful what you call impossible!
